THE DEPTH OF GOD'S LOVE. Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." A number of years ago an atheist declared to passerby, If there is a God in heaven, I challenge Him to strike me dead in five minutes." Finally after five minutes. Had passed he said with a sneer, "You see, there is no God, or by this time He would have struck me dead." A woman standing by heard him. As he began to leave, she stepped up to Him and asked: do you have any children? The man replied, "Yes, one son." If your son gave you a knife to kill him, would you do it?" "Of course not," he promptly answered. Well, she asked, "why not?" And the man replied, "because I love him so much." Before she turned away, the woman explained: "Mister, it's because God loves you so much, even though you are an atheist, that He refuses to accept your foolish challenge. He can kill because He has the powers. He wants you saved, not lost!" That's my kind of God. "While yet we were sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8). It's/something we mortals cannot coomprehend. Why should God love us so much that He would send His son into the world, knowing that wicked human beings would reject Him, persecute him, and finally nail him to the cross? The cross no longer stands, but love remains. One of the eye witnesses at calvary, later wrote that, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosover believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16. It has become the best loved verse in the Bible, and it applies to you directly, where ever you are, Atheist, struggling, skeptic, lukewarm church member, frustrated mother, angry husband, or dedicated christian. The Love of God and of Jesus, His son can change your life and your day today.
