When Jesus Forgets

When Jesus Forgets John 8:11 "She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." We had spent the weekend on College place, Washington at the home of Walla Walla. Driving down the college Avenue, we saw this maxim on a sign in front of Andy's Market: "God pardons like a mother who kisses the offense into everlasting forgetfulness." That describes exactly what Jesus did for the woman caught in adultery and dragged before Him. When her accusers suggested that she be stoned to death, Jesus begun to write their own personal sins on the ground. "At this, those who who heard begun to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, 'woman, where are the they? Has no one condemned you?' No one sir, she said. " Then neither do I condemn you,' Jesus declared. 'Go now and leave your life of sin' (John 8:9 - 11, NIV). This was to her the beginning of new life, a life of purity and peace, devoted to the service of God. In the uplifting of this fallen soul, Jesus performed a greater miracle than in healing the most grievious physical disease. He cured the spiritual malady which is unto death everlasting. This penitent woman became one of His most steadfast followers. With self sacrificing love and devotion she repaid His forgiving mercy. In His act of pardoning this woman anndd encouraging her to live a better life, the character of Jesus shines forth in the beauty of perfect righteousness. The world had for this erring woman only contempt and scorn; but Jesus speaks words of comfort. What Jesus did for that trembling woman, He does for each of us. The Bible reveals the extent of Jesus' forgiving forgetfulness. Isaiah exalted, "You have cast all my sins behind your back" (Isaiah 38:17.) According to Micah, He casts "our sins into the depths of the sea". (Micah 7:19) Jesus puts our sins out of sight, out of His mind - Yes, and out of existence. I have blotted tour sins: they are gone like like morning mist in the afternoon. (Isaiah 44:22). Its good news for us - Jesus is very ready to kiss our offense into an everlasting forgetfulness."
